The photographs in this collection are black and white and measure 6 1/2x3, 9x7 1/2, and a large variety of other sizes. The subjects of the photographs are Montgomery, Ala., and Alabama history, including views of historic buildings, memorabilia, Confederate monuments and markers, the State capitol, Leslie's Weekly and other views of the inaugauration of Jefferson Davis in 1861, prominent personages such as Howell Cobb, Sophie Bibb, and William Lowndes Yancey, and various documents and envelopes. The collection was compiled by Peter A. Brannon, director of the Alabama Dept. of Archives and History and the copies were made by photographer Alex Bush.
